Brief: A natured inspired knee-length dress made from satin, chiffon and tulle. Embroidered embellishment at the front and 24 hand sewn jewel buttons at the back.
You might have seen a preview here or here on my Insta!
I grew up being a huge fan of Cardcaptor Sakura/CCS and one of my favourite things about it were all the fun
outfits that Sakura was given to wear everytime she was sent out on a mission to retrieve a Clow Card (if
you aren't familiar at all with this, then this is for you to read up on!) One of my favourite Clow Card
characters was, without a doubt the Flower. She was one of the cutest and happiest characters in the series
and her powers include making it rain petals and giving huge flower bouquets to people.
Influence wise, Valentino, Elie Saab and Giambattista Valli all played a role in the garment design;
'romantic' colours that reflect femininity, embellishments and hand-sewn jewels to reflect royalty
or couture quality and a flowy silhouette that reflects flower petals.
Of course, I had to translate my love of flowers, CCS and Textiles into one.... Add a bit of photography,
Photoshop and inspiration from a few magazine editorials and viola! This garment took pretty much the whole
year to do, from research to production- working with one of my best friends was an advantage bit to
make the year fly.
These pictures were taken a week prior to making this post and it means that by now most of my
assignments are almost done... and it's almost exam period *gasp!* I'm so close to finishing highschool
altogether, it feels so bizarre to almost be done. So you see, this is the reason I keep putting off blog
posts, if anyone is curious, that is. Having three folios means I have to constantly keep an open mind
and always be working on one folio or all at the same time. A lot of stress has built up but with tough
times also come good outcomes! Finishing a Media Com. assignment production earlier back, I hope
to share it soon.♡ (Also, it's Spring in Australia now! How fitting for a post!!)
